Claude Code, Codex, Cursor

Each opens a browser tab the first time so you can sign in and click Allow.

Claude Code

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http carlychat https://carlychat.com/mcp

Then /mcp → carlychat → Authenticate.

Codex

Terminal
codex mcp add carlychat --url https://carlychat.com/mcp codex mcp login carlychat

Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf

mcp.json
{ "mcpServers": { "carlychat": { "type": "http", "url": "https://carlychat.com/mcp" } } }

VS Code uses a top-level servers key instead.

Prefer a key?

Use the account key from your Account page as a header. Keep it out of repositories. An agent with its own inbox can sign up and get a key itself; llms.txt says how.

Claude Code with a key
claude mcp add --transport http carlychat https://carlychat.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <account key>"

After connecting

The agent creates the chatbot, trains it on your site, and returns the install script. Review it in the dashboard; disconnect apps from your Account page.

If something doesn’t work

  • No plus button in ChatGPT. Developer mode is off, or your workspace blocks it.
  • Tools don’t show in the chat. Enable CarlyChat in the chat’s tools menu.
  • The agent asks for a key. Point it at this page. None is needed once connected.
